The
Friends of
Semmes is a nonprofit organization
composed of area residents, working
together to organize and provide family oriented activities for the Semmes
community. The following community events are organized by the Friends
of Semmes:
Annual Christmas Events (Christmas Tree Lighting, Christmas
Parade), Azalea Festival, Azalea Pageant, Azalea Festival 5K Run and
Easter Egg Hunt.
Several
long-time residents of Semmes
got together during the Summer of 2002
to discuss having a Christmas Parade in Semmes...
and that's how Friends of
Semmes began. The group grew to
about 25 individuals who routinely met every Thursday evening during
Fall 2002, planning the first Christmas Tree Lighting and Parade for our
community. The group was incorporated as a nonprofit corporation in May
2003.
We
continue to look for ways to improve and preserve our community in Semmes.
